Fuel wood, extracted from forests, is the major energy source of rural Nepal. In order to reduce pressure on forest for fuel wood collection, Biogas Promotion Program with support from Ford Foundation has been implemented in Sindhupalchowk district along with other districts of Nepal. Under this program, Winrock International, Nepal in association with Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal (FECOFUN) has carried out a study on carbon sequestration potential of Maitar Kawase, Dhuseni and Piughar Baghmara community forests of Sindhupalchowk district.
