National Sharing Workshop on “Sharing Learning Across Projects: Operating Micro Hydro Plants (MHP) as Commercially Viable Enterprises

The National Sharing Workshop on “Sharing Learning Across Projects: Operating Micro Hydro Plants (MHP) as Commercially Viable Enterprises” project was held on 29th June 2018 at Summit Hotel, Lalitpur in collaboration with AEPC/RERL. The aim of the workshop was to share processes and outcomes of the knowledge exchange project.In the workshop, Mr. Badri Nath Baral, Director of Winrock International welcomed the participants and shared the objective of the workshop.

Mr. Satish Gautam, National Program Manager of RERL highlighted the importance and need of post construction support to MHPs for their sustainable operation. Mr. Subas Chandra Kunwar, from RERL shared process adopted for making MHP as commercially viable enterprises while Ms. Resha Piya from Winrock International shared outcomes of Learning Across MHP Projects. Managers of three MHPs viz Nishi Khola II MHP, Chachalghat MHP and Girindi Khola MHP shared actions they have adopted after learning from knowledge exchange project and how these interventions have been helping them. Finally, Mr. Sundar Bahadur Khadka, Officer at AEPC gave his remarks. He mentioned that he liked the concept of knowledge exchange among the MHP practitioners for sustainable operation of the MHPs. He assured that AEPC will replicate this concept in other MHPs and other renewable energy technologies too. In total 31 participants were present who represented private sector, associations, financial institutions, I/NGOs, micro hydro developers and development partners such as KFW, DFID & GIZ attended the workshop.
