Nepal Carbon Fair Organized

Winrock International Nepal (WIN) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MoEST) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) organized a two day "Nepal Carbon Fair" in Kathmandu on 17-18 November 2005. The fair was part of the awareness building activates under the Promotion of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Greenhouse Gas Abatement (PREGA) project on the aspects of Carbon Trade, particularly the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Total of 105 participants took part in the fair which constituted carbon credit buyers, CDM project validators, local CDM project developers, national policymakers, academia and other stakeholders. Eight CDM projects developed under the second phase of PREGA project participated in the fair along with other four projects developed by different project developers in the country. Structural set-up and working modality of the recently established Designated National Authority (DNA) has also been discussed with the stakeholders during the fair. The fair provided a good opportunity for buyers, validators, project developers and DNA authority as direct interaction among them to learn each others' terms and conditions.
