KEVA bags Sustainable Electric Award
The WEVA E-Visionary award was established at EVS-20 in 2003 in Long Beach. "E"-visionary denotes electric vehicles, electric drive, environment, ecology, efficiency, etc. This is awarded to cities, specific technology, product, project or activities which have exhibited remarkable efforts to the promotion of sustainable electric mobility. The winners of the first and second E-visionary award were Los Angeles, Reggio Emilia, Yokohama, San Francisco, La Rochelle, and Beijing. European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (AVERE), Electric Drive Transportation EDTA and Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific (EVAAP) will select award winners from each region.
KEVA was nominated by EVAAP in September of 2005 for being actively engaged in the development of EVs in Kathmandu in terms of incentive program, vehicle type, number of units and vehicle performance. KEVA was asked to submit a brief account of activities that have been carried out in Kathmandu. EVAAP formally announced KEVA as the winner from the Asia Pacific region. KEVA has been invited to attend closing session of EVS-22 on October 28, 2006, in Yokohama, Japan, and make a 15-minute award speech. The award will be presented during the closing session of the conference.
