FARMER TO FARMER

Globally, the barriers to progress are not the ability of people, their vision or motivation. Instead barriers arise from a shortage of the most basic and critical resources: knowledge of new technologies, market data, credit and financial systems, service and production strategies, and, most of all, information.

Winrock's John Ogonowski Farmer to Farmer Program is designed to help farmers and agribusiness people in selected countries across the globe create employment; improve food production, processing, distribution and marketing; protect natural resources on which agricultural production
depends; enhance democratic processes, and encourage the equitable participation of women. The Farmer-to-Farmer program fields U.S. volunteers to assist farms, agribusiness and organizations in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and New Independent States of Former Soviet Union. These volunteers provide the information and training people need to improve their skills and productivity, to ensure long lasting improvements and a better quality of life.
